Snowfall mix expected before temperatures warm up

The Hawk Eye After two weeks that instilled in Midwesterners an all too chilling understanding of Siberian life, the arctic cold front that has held tight to the region since Feb. 4 finally is loosening its grip.  The blast of continent-sized cold air was sent hurdling south from the North Pole into North America at the beginning of the month by a wobble in the polar vortex. The arctic front brought with it single-digit and sub-zero temperatures and wind chills as low as negative 30 degrees.  But now things are starting to heat up. We are climbing out of that ice box, said Andy Ervin, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Quad Cities.
