High-surf advisory for Marianas til 6 a.m. Tuesday Pacific Daily News There’s a high-surf advisory for Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday. The advisory means high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions, according to the National Weather Service’s Guam Weather Forecast Office. Hazardous surf of 8 to 10 feet and dangerous rip currents are expected along north- and west-facing reefs of the Marianas. The Weather Service advises that inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don’t swim against the current. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
