Lofty wildfire smoke that has arrived in Western Washington isn’t expected to cause air quality problems at the surface this week, though it will reduce visibility and make for some dramatic photos. A rain front expected Friday should clear up hazy skies in the region.
A shift brought smoke from fires in southern Oregon and northern California into the region over the weekend, said Dana Felton, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Seattle office. Air quality levels at the surface have remained at good levels.
“We’re not expecting much of the smoke to get down into the lower levels and what does shouldn’t cause any air quality problems,” he said.
