(KNSI) – Today begins meteorological spring,
as defined by March, April, and May. It differs from astronomical spring, or the vernal equinox, in that meteorologists break down the seasons into three month groupings based on “based on the annual temperature cycle as well as our calendar,” according to NOAA. Astronomical spring begins on March 20, 2021.
After a relatively mild winter, save for the extreme cold snap last month, what does the first month of meteorological spring have in store for central Minnesota? Tyler Hasenstein with the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Chanhassen says March will come in like a lamb and stay that way.

RACINEÂ â It seems like a day hasn t gone by in Racine County during the month of February where Wisconsinites haven t had to worry about snow. Or bitter cold. Or both.
Meteorologist Cameron Miller from the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Milwaukee/Sullivan said the county has seen anywhere from 12-15 inches.Â
Snow reports as recent as 10:15 a.m. list about 15 inches in Racine and Wind Point, 11.8 inches in Elmwood Park and 12.5 inches in Franksville. Anywhere from east of I-94, it s 10-15 inches, Miller said. It s less as you go west of I-94.

TUSCALOOSA, AL The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Birmingham expects Tuscaloosa County to receive 0.13 inches of ice accumulation from Sunday night into Tuesday morning, and will be placing the area under a Winter Storm Warning beginning Sunday evening at 6 p.m. and lasting through Monday at midnight.
