The governor s press office rebuked the decision in a statement provided to The Palm Beach Post. The town of Palm Beach had already lowered its flag Monday in the spirit of President Joe Biden s directive this week that all federal properties fly their flags at half-staff in honor of the 500,000 Americans who have died from COVID-19. The governor s order came late Tuesday. Council President Maggie Zeidman said the town would have lowered the flag for the governor s order even if it wasn t already lowered for COVID victims.
