The NHL and NHL Players’ Association announced on Monday that Nashville Predators goaltender Connor Ingram voluntarily entered the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program:
The National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) and the National Hockey League (NHL) announced today that goaltender Connor Ingram of the Nashville Predators will be away from the team while voluntarily taking part in the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program.
There will be no further comment.
As noted by the Associated Press (h/t NBC Sports), the NHL and NHLPA established the program in 1996. Players are able to call a confidential phone line regarding matters such as substance abuse and mental health.
NHL Returns for 56 Game Season Starting in January
Hockey fans can now be excited for January.hockey is back!
On Sunday, December 20th, the National Hockey League announced an agreement with the National Hockey League Players Association and that means we will see some hockey action next month. Teams will gear up and get ready for a 56-game season for 2020/2021 and it will all begin on January 13th and end on May 8th.
This year will look a little different as there will be no preseason games. Formal training camps will start on January 3rd for most teams, however, the seven teams that did not participate in the 2019-2020 Return to Play can begin training on December 31st.

The National Hockey League Players’ Association and National Hockey League have formally agreed to play a 2020-21 regular-season schedule of 56 games beginning Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, the League and Players announced on Sunday.
As part of the agreement, the Stanley Cup Playoffs would feature 16 teams in the traditional best-of-seven, four-round format and conclude around mid-July.
The 2021-22 season will return to a normal hockey calendar with the regular season starting in October.
