Opening a tea shop during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic seems a bit optimistic. But a top tea expert says this Kansas model is strong, especially because of the pandemic. It turns out that millennials and Generation Xers, due to COVID-19, are turning to this century-old brew, and The Teahouse at Clifton Square in Wichita is reaping the benefits. “2020, as hard as it was, is a good year for tea,” said Peter Goggi, president of the Tea Association of the U.S.A. “Tea bags increased in sales by 18 to 20%.”    In addition, Goggi said, Gen Xers and millennials, two of the largest demographics in the U.S., find the beverage both relaxing and calming. Studies conducted by the Tea Association show that 87% of millennials are tea drinkers  this is strongest in the South and Northeast. This tea-drinking fad is expected to continue as more than two-thirds of this demographic said they would continue to drink tea after COVID-19 s path diminishes.
