Antonio Santos was sentenced at Thames Magistrates Court. - Credit: Archant An Islington man who wrote antisemitic graffiti on bus stops in Stamford Hill has received a community order.  On December 18 last year, police caught Antonio Santos, of Cruikshank Street in Islington, in the act of defacing a Stamford Hill bus stop with a pen.  Upon further investigation, the officers found more bus stops had also been damaged with the same graffiti. The 61-year-old was sentenced at Thames Magistrates Court on January 20 for three counts of racially aggravated criminal damage. He was given a community order with requirements for rehabilitation and unpaid work of 80 hours over 12 months.

Punch Newspapers Sections JESUSEGUN ALAGBE with agency report The London Metropolitan Police have charged 18-year-old Rayhan Yasin Ali for the murder of Nigerian rapper, Abiola Akerele (aka Nayta The King), in London. The Met police stated on their website that Akerele, 28, was fatally stabbed by Ali during a fight at about 3.20pm (GMT) in Stondon Walk, East Ham on December 29. The police said they immediately swept into action after the incident was reported, saying they deployed the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance to the scene. However, despite the efforts of the emergency services, Akerele was pronounced dead at the scene.

They will appear in custody at Thames Magistrates Court on Monday, 4 January. Police were called at 15:18hrs on Tuesday, 29 December to reports of an assault in Stondon Walk, East Ham. Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service and a 28-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Abiola Akerele. His next of kin continues to be supported by specialist officers. A post-mortem examination established he died as a result of a stab injury to the heart.
