Cyclist jumped red light then knocked down and killed pensioner

15:19 EDT, 9 March 2021 114 shares A cyclist jumped a red light moments before knocking down and killing a pensioner at a pedestrian crossing, a court heard today. Ermir Loka, 23, is accused of the manslaughter of 73-year-old Peter McCombie, who was struck in Bow. east London on July 3 last year.  Mr McCombie was making his way home from work at the Royal London Hospital when he suffered a fractured skull and serious brain injuries in the collision. He was taken for emergency treatment but died from his injuries eight days later.   Snaresbrook Crown Court heard Loka was travelling at around 15mph when he ploughed into Mr McCombie, who was walking home from work as a hospital administrator.

Following investigations by Waltham Forest Council’s hygiene inspectors Bengal Curry House, Phoenix Chinese Takeaway and a food warehouse in Leyton have been slapped with closure orders until officers are satisfied hygiene standards are met. Officers found evidence of a rat infestation at Bengal Curry House in St James Street, Walthamstow during an inspection last month.

Photo: PA A man has denied breaching Covid-19 regulations after police broke up an illegal party on a houseboat in London attended by nearly 30 people. Jordy Nicholas Van Duijvenbode, 31, of no fixed address, was charged last month with one count of holding a gathering of more than 30 people and one count of participating in a gathering of two or more people. He appeared in person at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 2 where he pleaded not guilty to both charges.
