Towards Implementation of Women’s Rights in the Colombian Final Peace Accord: Progress, opportunities and challenges Format Executive summary 2020 marks the fourth year of implementation of the Colombian Final Accord, the 20th anniversary of the signing of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, and 25 years since the Beijing Platform for Action. This report considers the gender commitments located in the text of the Final Accord as identified by the Kroc Institute, their implementation progress, opportunities and challenges. The report reflects upon the additional challenges in the face of the global pandemic and five priority areas: territorial transformation, political participation, security and protection guarantees, reincorporation, and victims’ rights.

(Photo by Patrick Saunders) Alex Wan – a longtime non-profit leader and the first gay man elected to the Atlanta City Council – now leads the board that oversees Fulton County’s beleaguered elections agency.  The Fulton County Commission named Wan as chair of the Registration & Elections Board on Wednesday. Commission Chair Robb Pitts nominated Wan earlier this week.  Wan now helms a board that sets policy for the county elections department, which is run day-to-day by an elections director. Fulton received national attention during elections in November and January. It oversees elections this year for Atlanta’s mayor and City Council.

Ayorkor Botchwey Leads ECOWAS Pre-Election Mission To Benin

  Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, has led a delegation of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Pre-Election Mission to Benin. The visit is in line with ECOWAS Preventive Diplomacy mandate and electoral assistance to Member States, ahead of presidential elections scheduled to take place on 11th April 2021. Madam Ayorkor Botchwey, who is also the Chairman of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers was accompanied by Dr Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, President of the ECOWAS Commission; Mrs Halima Ahmed, Commissioner in-charge of Finance at the ECOWAS Commission; Mr Blaise Diplo-Djomand, the Resident Representative of the ECOWAS Commission in Benin, as well as ECOWAS technical staff.
