MURFREESBORO, Tenn., March 1, 2021 A dedicated group of Middle Tennessee State University students have been named this year’s winners of Selective Insurance’s College Competition.
The annual national contest allows future generations of insurance professionals to run virtual insurance agencies and experience many associated responsibilities and considerations. The MTSU team had the highest performing agency among the eight college teams competing in the monthlong competition, making complex business decisions while overcoming sales hurdles and managing their financial solvency.
The five-member MTSU team was comprised of juniors and seniors with majors in Risk Management and Insurance, Actuarial Science, and other business-related areas primarily within the Jennings A. Jones College of Business.

Selective Insurance appoints new EVP, chief human resources officer

Selective Insurance appointed Cyndi Bennett as the company’s new EVP, chief human resources officer. Bennett will be responsible for the company’s human resources strategy, including talent management, benefits, diversity and compensation. Prior to joining Selective in 2006 as assistant vice president of compensation, Bennett worked at Prudential Financial for nine years as director of compensation for International Insurance and Investments.
She was promoted to vice president of compensation in 2009 and to vice president of compensation and benefits in 2012, where she has been responsible for the strategy, design, implementation and administration of our compensation and health and welfare benefits.

In this role Floro will be responsible for advancing Selective’s customer-centric marketing, branding and communications strategy using a full spectrum of traditional and innovative digital, mobile and social media channels that will build recognition and drive profitable growth.
Giunero has more than 25 years of experience leading breakthrough brand, marketing, and digital programs for financial service companies. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and head of brand and digital marketing at CIT Group, where he led brand and digital marketing strategy, insights, content, and creative for commercial, small business and consumer banking.
