Stocks extend loss as major sectors dip 188 DHAKA, Jan 26, 2021 (BSS) – Stock markets today extended loss as most of the major sectors closed lower. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 94.55 points or 1.63 per cent to settle at 5,695. Two other indices also edged lower. The DSE 30 Index comprising blue chips slumped 39 points to finish at 2,162 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) shed 17.43 points to close at 1,279. Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, also fell to Taka 11.25 billion on the country’s premier bourse, slumping by 29 per cent over the previous day’s mark of Taka 15.85 billion. Losers took a strong lead over the gainers, as out of 357 issues traded, 255 declined, 27 advanced and 75 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 8.62 points or 0.15 per cent to settle at 5,836.18. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 0.94 points to finish at 2,208.45 and 4.58 points closing at 1,294.65. Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 12.13 billion on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 14.16 billion.

Stocks witness recovery after two-day slump 331 DHAKA, Jan 19, 2021 (BSS) – Stock markets today witnessed recovery after falling two consecutive days as bargain hunters showed their buying binge on sector-specific issues. DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 19.08 points or 0.32 per cent to settle at 5,820, after losing 108 points in the two consecutive sessions. The DSE 30 Index comprising blue chips also advanced 8.36 points to finish at 2,203. However, the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) fell 2.11 points to close at 1,291. Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, however, plunged to one-month low to Taka 12.90 billion on the country’s premier bourse, slumping by 15 per cent over the previous day’s mark of Taka 15.19 billion.
