DARIEN Though a light seems to be at the end of the pandemic tunnel, the glow of Fourth of July fireworks will have to wait another year to return in Darien.
According to Parks & Rec program supervisor Jami Gore, the annual fireworks that the town celebrates to mark Independence Day will return in 2022. However, she said that doesn’t mean Darien will not find a festive way to celebrate the occasion.

DARIEN Darien’s Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a virtual public hearing Tuesday night on the housing and zoning reform bills that have been introduced to the state legislature.
The hearing will be held via GoToMeeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The commission intends for the public hearing to allow Darien residents to express their thoughts on the bills that some have criticized in town and in other Fairfield County municipalities.
Many Fairfield County municipal leaders, particularly in Greenwich, have objected to the state’s implication that the towns are not doing enough to address affordable housing.

Board of Finance Chairman Jon Zagrodzky said the previous tax deferral from July to October didn’t detrimentally impact the town financially, and said all deferments were collected by the due date.
“There were no stragglers,” he said.
