A Fresh Start in New Bedford [TOWNSQUARE SUNDAY]
A program called New Bedford Fresh Start is asking for the public s help in assisting individuals and families in need. Fresh Start is operated through the City of New Bedford s Office of Community Service. The program has provided housewares and furniture to families who lost most of their possessions in recent fires in New Bedford. As a consequence, the inventory at Fresh Start needs a boost.
Volunteers will be collecting household items on Saturday, April 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Municipal Parking Lot at William and Sixth Streets, near New Bedford City Hall. Residents are asked to donate gently used housewares like dishes or toasters, to help people start over.

How does a family recover from a catastrophic house fire? It s staggering to imagine, but how do you cope with losing every worldly possession in a fire?
Many of the local apartment fire victims don t have insurance, even though renter s insurance is quite reasonably priced. Imagine, not one belonging is salvageable and you are faced with the reality of starting all over from nothing at all. Along with the other ruins, fire victims also lose a sense of place in the world.

(EAST ORANGE/ORANGE, NJ) - On this last day of Women’s History Month, before the clock strikes 12 midnight, TAPinto wanted to pause from all the Coronavirus news and take the time to highlight women in our communities making a difference.
In honor of the many s-heroes, we have created our second annual “East Orange and Orange 100 Women of Power and Progress” list.
The criteria used to select each woman was as follows: 1. The woman must be a resident of or work in East Orange or Orange. 2. She must use her life and platforms by way of career, volunteerism, social media, etc. to promote positivity, unity, and the uplifting of other women within one of the two municipalities and beyond.
