The Taipei International Machine Tool Show, which was scheduled to open next month, has been postponed indefinitely due to a surge in domestic COVID-19 cases in Taiwan, the event’s organizers said yesterday.
However, a virtual version of the show would take place from March 15 to April 15, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA, 外貿協會) said.
The trade show was originally scheduled to be held at the Taipei World Trade Center and the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center from March 15 to 20, with both physical and online exhibitions.

Taipei, Feb. 1 (CNA) The physical 2021 Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS), which was scheduled to open in March, will be postponed to an as-yet undecided date due to a surge in domestic cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) said Monday.
However, the show will still take place March 15-April 15, albeit in a virtual format, the department said.

The Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS) is to open in March as scheduled, even though Taiwan has reported an increase in the number of domestic COVID-19 cases, Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry chairman Alex Ko (柯拔希) said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a news conference in Taipei, Ko said that he has faith in Taiwan’s ability to fight the pandemic, despite a spike in locally transmitted COVID-19 cases in an infection cluster at Taoyuan General Hospital.
“TIMTOS 2021, which will open as scheduled on March 15 and run through March 20 at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1 and Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 2, is likely to be the first major trade show in the world,” Ko said.

Speaking at a news conference, Alex Ko (柯拔希) said he has faith in the nation s ability to fight the pandemic, despite a spike in domestic confirmed cases related to a cluster of infections at a hospital in Taoyuan, northern Taiwan.
