Last Updated Tuesday, April 6, 2021 12:46PM EDT Starting tomorrow, the provincial COVID-19 vaccine booking system will open up appointments to people ages 60 and over in all public health units currently using the province s portal. Appointments are currently available to people over the age of 70, with the exception of Toronto and Peel Region, which have been vaccinating people ages 60 and older since April 2. Pharmacies opened up AstraZeneca COVID-19 shots to people over the age of 55 last week and some family doctors are also reaching out to patients 55 and older to book vaccinations. The Ford government dropped the age of eligibility this week as the province enters Phase 2 of its vaccination program.
Published Tuesday, April 6, 2021 12:12PM EDT Thousands of education workers in Niagara Region will be able to roll up their sleeves and receive a COVID-19 vaccine starting this weekend. The widespread vaccination of education workers wasn’t supposed to begin until the province began prioritizing frontline workers in mid-May but the District School Board of Niagara issued a news release on Tuesday afternoon confirming that as many as 4,000 eligible staff members will have the option of being vaccinated between April 10 and 18, which coincides with the delayed March break. The Niagara Catholic District School Board then separately confirmed to CP24 that its members will also be included in the rollout.

Education Minister Stephen Lecce says in-class instruction and April Break will go on as planned.
This comes after speculation classes would move online if the province increases COVID-19 regulations.
“Schools will remain open critical for students’ mental health & learning,” said Lecce in a tweet Thursday.
“The Chief Medical Officer of Health has said schools remain safe. Against third wave & VOCs, strong protocols have kept 98.7% of schools open and 74% without any cases. Students deserve to be in class.”
