WSU College of Medicine held first commencement for med students

Floyd College of Medicine in Spokane as it hosted its first ever Commencement Ceremony for the graduating inaugural class of medical students on Thursday. The ceremony was held virtually as a drive-thru celebration for not only the medical students, but also students graduating with master’s and bachelor’s degrees in the College of Medicine’s Nutrition & Exercise Physiology and Speech & Hearing programs. More than 100 students drove through the event, celebrating their hard work with family and friends, especially after a bleak year with the pandemic.

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will be delivering the commencement address virtually at the University of Connecticut graduation ceremony this weekend for both classes of 2020 and 2021. Cardona is the former, commissioner of education for Connecticut. He attended Central Connecticut State University for his bachelor’s degree and UConn, where he completed his master’s in bilingual/bicultural education, Administrator Preparation Program, doctorate in Education, and Executive Leadership Program certificate. May 7, 2021 Submitted photo Aidan Konhaus, a Davis & Elkins College senior majoring in art, displays a sketch he created for the Class of 2021 Commemorative Medal. Konhaus selected the rotunda at Myles Center for the Arts because it is the newest addition to campus. ELKINS The newest addition to the Davis & Elkins College campus served as inspiration for the design of the Class of 2021 Commemorative Medal. The rotunda entrance to the renovated Myles Center for the Arts is featured on the front of the coin with artwork by senior Aidan Konhaus. Now a tradition at Davis & Elkins College, the Graduating Class Commemorative Medal was introduced to the class of 2013. Each year a senior art student is selected to produce a design of his or her choice and the back is inscribed with the College logo.
