President’s Award Raina Dey, Newberg, and Jenny Wood, Dallas, won this award, given to an individual or group who has made an exceptional contribution to the OVMA and to veterinary medicine. Dey serves as public relations director for the OVMA. In her role, she facilitates outreach and education about the profession and the importance of veterinary care for all animals. Earlier, Dey worked in the Continuing Legal Education department at the Oregon State Bar. Wood serves as an executive assistant at the OVMA. She handles membership services and is part of the team that manages the Oregon Veterinary Conference. Earlier, Wood worked in the business office at the Oregon State University Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine.

The NBA also alluded to practice by lawyers standing as sureties for their clients in criminal matters, describing it as worrisome. Speaking at the NBA Ilorin Continuing Legal Education seminar in Ilorin on Wednesday, the branch chairman of NBA Continuing Legal Education Committee (CLEC), Mr Kehinde Eleja, SAN also alleged that some lawyers serve as conduit pipes for delivery of gratification to investigators in criminal matters.
