SURAT THANI: People not wearing face masks while outdoors in this southern province are liable to a fine of up to 20,000 baht under a provincial order effective from Tuesday.
The most urgent order, dated April 19 and signed by governor Wichawut Jinto, was sent to all heads of government offices, district chiefs and municipal mayors in the province.
All people in the province are required to wear a face mask all the time when out of their homes or living quarters, as a precaution against spreading Covid-19, provincial governor Wichawut Jinto said.

BURI RAM: The provincial communicable disease committee has ordered the 14-day lockdown of Ban Khok Sa-ad in tambon Pang Ku of Prakhon Chai district, where two people were found infected with Covid-19. One of them died.
Governor Thatchakorn Hatthathayakul, chairman of the provincial communicable disease committee, said the lockdown was necessary to prevent the spread of the virus. Both patients had been in contact with many people in the village.

Covid cases have surged in Prachuap Khiri Khan, with many infections traced to a concert in the seaside district of Hua Hin, according to the provincial public health office.
The province reported a one-day jump of 141 infections on Tuesday, bringing the cumulative case count to 334, with no deaths. Most patients exhibited no severe symptoms, said Suriya Khuharat, head of the Prachuap Khiri Khan provincial public health office. The majority of sufferers in the province contracted the virus while attending the Joey Boy concert at the Maya Exclusive Pub in Hua Hin on March 30.
