The settlement includes a two-year pay deal backdated to April, worth 3.7pc, plus a one-hour reduction in the working week, the union said. As the business introduces change, there will be no compulsory redundancies and the stated objective of Royal Mail is now one of job creation, according to the CWU.

Regretfully due to the short notification period Royal Mail management were unable to attend. Elected Members expressed disappointment at this and agreed to call on Royal Mail to immediately take on board concerns raised at the meeting regarding the employment rights of staff and health and safety concerns.
