Arrangements are being made at temples in Salem region for crowd management on Vaikunda Ekadasi day on December 25.
According to authorities from Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department, huge crowd is expected at Perumal temples in Chinnathirupathi and Kottai, Sri Prasanna Venkataramanar Temple in Karuvalli, and Perumal temples in Namakkal. Hence, they have launched online token system to prevent overcrowding on the day.

‘Two antique pillars were illegally transported to Chennai’
Officers of the Idol Wing CID have started an investigation into the alleged theft of carved stone pillars from the Adikesava Perumal Temple at Thiruvattar in Kanniyakumari district, which is one of the 108 Divyadesams.
A senior officer said, “Following information about the theft of stone pillars, we conducted a preliminary investigation. It revealed that an attempt was made to remove four antique pillars with carvings between 1992 and 1995. Of the four, two pillars were removed and stolen from the temple. They were illegally transported to Chennai.”

The Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowment Department (Muzrai Department) has chalked out the project of building a stone stairway on the eastern side of Chamundi Hill. The existing stairway has 1,008 steps and it starts from Suttur Mutt at the foot of the Hill. Once constructed, the new stone stairway will have 1,034 steps.

As many as four couples entered into wedlock during a mass marriage celebration at Sri Kukke Subrahmanya Temple in Kukke, Dakshina Kannada, on Thursday.
The temple which is administered by the Religious and Charitable Endowments Department sponsored the mass marriage.
Harish and K. Divya, A. Naveen Kumar and M. Geetha, Shivarama Ainakidu and Pushpa Devaragadde, and Anand and K. Shobha were the couples who tied the knot during the celebrations solomnised as per Hindu rituals by priest Madhusudhana Kalluraya.
The couples were later felicitated with shawls and provided the maha prasada of the presiding deity.
