© DC Thomson In the run-up to Christmas (between 13th and 24th December) we bring you a different charity that needs your help at this time of year, as part of our dedicated 12 Charities of Christmas campaign… Cupar YMCA The YMCA has been in existence in Cupar since the middle of the 19th century and the YWCA since about 1912. The two organisations became a Joint Association in 1965 operating from Marathon House in Bonnygate which has been the home of the YMCA since 1940. The ‘Y’, as it is commonly known, provides activities for all ages both during the day and in the evening. In partnership with Fife Council’s Community Learning and Development and others, it supports many local groups and initiatives. The Y has its own young people’s community based project – Cupar Youth Cafe.

All of the support is free and no appointment or referral is needed. There’s also no time limit on support, they are here for as long as they needed. Maggie’s isn’t part of the NHS – it’s an independent charity – but their centres are beside major cancer hospitals across the UK and the charity has excellent relationships with partner hospitals.

Blythswood were able to deliver food packages to people during lockdown and are extremely thankful for the generous support of individuals, churches and businesses who all donated a wonderful amount of food, enabling needs to be met.
