Senior Professor Jennifer Perera, the chairman of the committee appointed to make recommendations on how the last rites should be conducted, said that she and her committee had given permission for the burial and cremation and COVID burial.
Speaking to the Hiru News team she stated that the relevant permission was given for the burial through special criteria.
Secretary to the Ministry of Health S.H. Munasinghe appointed a special committee last December to make recommendations on the final course of COVID deaths.
Senior Professor Jennifer Perera, the former President of the Sri Lanka Vaccine and Infectious Diseases Forum and the Sri Lanka Medical Association, has been appointed as its Chairperson.
