As several states including Maharashtra have suspended the shooting of TV shows due to the surge in Covid cases, producers are now choosing states like Punjab to complete the filming of ongoing projects.  Producers compelled to shift shoots to other states During the initial days of shooting suspension, most showrunners shifted to states like Goa and Karnataka to complete their pending shoots. And now, as several states have started imposing strict restrictions, producers are going further afield – moving to Punjab, Gujarat, and Rajasthan to quickly film the pending episodes.

Image Source: IANS Mumbai, April 30 : If television as an industry has taken a hit after Maharashtra government stopped all shoots for the time being owing to the surge in Pandemic in Mumbai, reality TV, more than fiction shows, could be the bigger sufferer. A number of factors make sustaining non-fiction shows under such circumstances extremely difficult, says JD Majethia, chairman, Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC). Non-fiction shows require huge sets and infrastructure. A lot of planning has to be done on a big level. Contestants come from different cities, and their accommodation and everything else is a huge responsibility. It is a costly affair, he tells IANS.

Episode banks are fast drying up, and although many shows have moved out to alternative locations as Goa, long-term sustenance of such a plan of action may not be feasible for all producers, given the fact that television is a platform that demands a regular flow of content. Under the present circumstances, there are rumours that many producers are considering ending their shows, especially the ones with low ratings. Among shows that moved out of the state are “Hamari Wali Good News”, “Kundali Bhagya”, “Kumkum Bhagya” and “Qurbaan Hua”. According to sources, “Shaadi Mubarak”, starring Rati Pandey and Manav Gohil, is on a break. They aired new episodes till April 20.
