You might recall that pre-merger T-Mobile used to make fun of the wireless sector s repeated failures in the TV space, such as Verizon s massive Go90 face plant. Of course, at the same time, T-Mobile was busy planning its own streaming TV efforts. Launched just last fall, T-Mobile s TVision TV service was supposed to truly disrupt the stodgy TV sector (something already happening at the hands of countless platforms). T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert explained it like this last October: If ever there was an industry that needed an Un-carrier overhaul, it’s cable and satellite TV,” Sievert said, using the company’s term for its disruptive moves in the wireless industry. “I mean, it’s no secret why these companies are dying, they treat their customers so badly.

Fans of Seinfeld understand the perverse pleasures of spending time with the Costanza family – watching these pugnacious people bicker and yell and jump down each other’s throats, turning what might have been sedate occasions into epic shouting matches. I daresay that the Beare family in Mother and Son – particularly the titular characters, brilliantly played by Ruth Cracknell and Garry McDonald – could give George and his folks a run for their money. This great Australian sitcom is so devoted to capturing their arguments that watching it feels almost like a form of assault.
Retrospectively viewed through the prism of a proto-Seinfieldian exercise in narrative minutiae, this terrifically spiky and shouty series – which ran for six seasons, between 1984 to 1994, collecting much acclaim and popularity – is in some respects more devoted to matters of inconsequence than the famous “show about nothing”. For a long time, I resisted watching Love because the premise offended me. From the outside, it looked like another example of what Vulture call the attractiveness gap: the well-honed TV trope that men “with barely any redeeming qualities” can somehow pull an impossibly beautiful woman.
I can’t remember what eventually convinced me to start watching but once I did, I realised my first impression was wrong. Sort of, anyway. Love
is a story of dweeby guy-meets-hot girl, but for reasons that become clear by the end of its first season, it’s not unaware that it has cast a mismatched couple. In fact, that’s kind of the crux of the show. Despite my initial hesitation, I have now watched the entirety of Love three times over – and the final season only aired in 2018. Reader: I love Love.

Amazon.com Inc will start making its TV streaming device in India this year via a unit of Taiwanese contract manufacturer Foxconn, the U.S. online retail giant said on Tuesday. The Fire TV Stick will be made by Foxconn subsidiary Cloud Network Technology in Chennai, marking Amazon s first foray into having one of its devices manufactured in India. Amazon said hundreds of thousands of Fire TV Sticks would be produced per year, helping it meet the demands of Indian customers. Amazon will continuously evaluate scaling capacity to additional marketplaces/cities depending on the domestic demand, the company said in a blog post.
