HFCL gains on plan to acquire 50% in Nimpaa Telecom

HFCL rose 1.79% to Rs 28.40 after the company said it plans to acquire upto 50% stake in Nimpaa Telecommunications by subscribing its equity shares in one or more tranches. HFCL will pay a cash consideration of Rs 1 crore for acquiring 50% of the diluted paid-up equity share capital of Nimpaa Telecommunications (Nimpaa). The acquisition will be completed by April 2021. Nimpaa is a newly incorporated company and no financials have been prepared. It was incorporated to carry on the business of manufacturing all types of equipment, components, accessories and cables required for telecommunication systems, networks and services. HFCL is acquiring stake in Nimpaa, keeping in line with thrust on addition of new telecom network products in the field of communications, specifically Aramid Reinforced Plastic (ARP) rods. ARP rods shall be manufactured and supplied by Nimpaa for HFCL, its subsidiaries and associate companies captive consumption.

Joe Ghartey Hailed At Matriculation Of First Batch Of Students Of UMaT School Of Railways

  The University of Mines and Technology, UMaT at Tarkwa in the Western Region has acknowledged the invaluable role played by Mr Joe Ghartey, the immediate past Minister of Railways and Development towards the establishment of the UMaT School of Railways and Infrastructure Development, SRID at Ketan. Professor Richard Kwesi Amankwah, the Vice Chancellor of UMat recalled that, the idea for the SRID was mooted by Mr Ghartey when he delivered the UMaT Alumni lecture in October 2018 on the theme, “Ghana’s Railway Infrastructure Development: Challenges and Opportunities for the Minerals Industry in Ghana”. A Memorandum of Understanding was subsequently signed on May 15, 2018 following various stakeholder engagement after which the then Railway Training School was released to UMaT to serve as a satellite campus for the SRID.

Big Boost For Human Resource Development As Ghana School Of Railways Hold Maiden Matriculation

  The intention of the Government of Ghana to develop sufficient Human Resources for the country’s railways subsector has seen a major boost with the matriculation of the first batch of students for the Ghana School of Railways and Infrastructure Development.   The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) which operates the Ghana School of Railways and Infrastructure Development, held the matriculation recently.   UMaT opened the Ghana School of Railways and Infrastructure Development Campus at Essikado in Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region this year.   About 300 students have been admitted into the Ghana School of Railways and Infrastructure Development for this year. Over the next four years, the School is looking to admit about 5,000 students.
