Mobile Internet, Data Traffic Up By 43% - NewZimbabwe com

By Alois Vinga THE Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) third quarter report reveals mobile internet and data traffic rose 43 % amid significant increases in voice traffic. The report acknowledges the positive growth projecting the sector will keep growing due to the reliance on the internet for business purposes. “Mobile internet and data traffic grew by 43% to record 14,878TB in the third quarter of 2020 from 10,407TB recorded in the second quarter of 2020. Used International Internet Bandwidth Capacity also increased by 16.8% to record 149,665Mbps from 128,173Mbps recorded in the previous quarter,” says the report. Internet and data traffic is expected to continue growing due to the increased adoption of e-learning, telecommuting, and e-conferencing.

Potraz hands over ICT equipment to the disabled BY HARRIET CHIKANDIWA Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) director-general Gift Machengete on Tuesday donated information communications technology (ICT) equipment to institutions catering for people living with disabilities. Through its Universal Services Fund, the telecoms regulatory authority handed over 180 laptops to various centres such as Ingutsheni Central Hospital, Chengetai Special School, Nzeve Deaf Centre, Henry Murray, University of Zimbabwe and Midlands State University. Speaking at the handover ceremony held in Harare on Tuesday, Machengete said it was estimated that more than one billion people, which is about 15% of the world’s population, had one form of disability or the other, whether physical or cognitive.

UAE Vision 2021 aims to make the UAE among the best countries in the world by the Golden Jubilee of the Union on six basic pillars. One of the six pillars, or national priorities, is providing sustainable environment and infrastructure. The Strategic Affairs Council had adopted the UAE PASS policy in the Emirate of Dubai as of May 1, 2020, as one of the Dubai Councils’ initiatives.
