The biggest exhibitions of 2021
While last year was a disaster for exhibition programming around the world, museums and curators have not been idle and there are plenty of ambitious exhibitions due to open this year (virus-related lockdowns notwithstanding). Below you will find some of the must-see shows of 2021, from the Rijksmuseum’s examination of the slave trade and a reassessment of the Roman arch-villain Nero, to landmark retrospectives for Barbara Kruger, Yayoi Kusama, Sophie Taeuber-Arp and Jasper Johns. .-Nassima Landau is a new and ambitious platform that aims to empower and impact the Tel Aviv contemporary art scene, by showcasing emerging and established International artists. Nassima Landau will act as a foundation identifying and supporting artists with outstanding talent, quality, and promising market value, whilst engaging in activities yielding financial support. Its innovative program includes exhibitions, site-specific installations and one-time events of the highest standard in its new art space located in the center of Tel Aviv.

More than 3.15 million people were exposed to the Zappa music projects, according to the Israeli Marketing Union, and the Zappa-Keshet shows received a 7.6% market share on average, which Keshet said was higher than expected.
The very first Zappa Live show in March, with Idan Raichel, received a whopping 14.5% market share, no live audience needed.
‘Here to stay’
Music, which is something people are used to consuming in non-live formats, is far easier to produce online than dance, said Anat Leventon, CEO of Tel Aviv’s Suzanne Dellal Center for Dance and Theater, who began her job just a month and a half after the coronavirus began.

.- Artist Hilla Toony Navok is the recipient of the 2020 Discount Artistic Encouragement Award at the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art. Excerpt from the jurys reasoning: Hilla Toony Navoks works draw their inspiration from the material Israeli environment surrounding her. In her work familiar, readymade objects, and accordingly acute realism, are coupled with geometric abstraction. Contemporaneity and modernism are combined with great talent, encapsulating expressions of humor and critique of our time.
Hilla Toony Navok, born in 1974 in Tel Aviv, pursues both drawing and sculpting. She holds a bachelors degree in design from WIZO Haifa, and a masters degree in art from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.
