Factions are locked in a fight over ownership of churches
A senior functionary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Wednesday gave audience separately to the Orthodox and Jacobite factions of the Malankara Church who have been locked in a bitter fight over ownership of parish churches in central Kerala.
Sources said RSS joint general secretary Manmohan Vaidya, who was in Kochi, held back to back meetings with Geevarghese Mar Yulios and Yakoob Mar Irenios, the metropolitans respectively in charge of the Ahmedabad and Kochi dioceses of the Orthodox Church, and Joseph Mar Gregorious, the Metropolitan Trustee of the Jacobite Syrian Church, along with Jacobites Church secretary Peter Elias, priest trustee Sleeba Paul Vattavelil and lay trustee Shaji Choondayil.

The Odisha Legislative Assembly on Saturday passed an unanimous resolution for the development of the 12th Century Shree Jagannath Temple under the “Shreemandira Parikrama plan” (Periphery development of Shree Jagannath Temple).
“The greatest identity of the Odias is Shree Jagannath himself and Odisha’s history, culture, tradition and all our beliefs have evolved and grown around Shree Jagannath,” chief minister Naveen Patnaik said while moving the resolution in the virtual mode in the Assembly.

The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court has ordered status quo in the issue pertaining to implementation and execution of Smart City project works near the Thanjavur Big Temple or the Brihadeeswarar Temple. A petition said that prior permission from the Archaeological Survey of India was mandatory since it was a regulated area.
A Division Bench of Justices M.M. Sundresh and S.Ananthi directed the ASI to take a call on the issue within a period of eight weeks and disposed of the petition filed by R.K. Neelakandan of Thanjavur. The petitioner said that no prior permission was obtained from the ASI as per the mandatory rules.
Three labourers killed after wall collapses in Uttar Pradeshâs Mahoba district
Lucknow: Three labourers were killed after a wall of an under-construction house collapsed late Sunday night in the Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh.
The Superintendent of Police Mahoba R.K. Gautam said that the construction was being carried out at night illegally as the area falls into historical Keerat Sagar Sarovar, protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
On Sunday night, a wall suddenly caved in and three labourers got buried under its debris. Neighbours informed the police about the incident and helped police rescue the three labourers early Monday morning.
