Slow progress of work by CSML in heritage zone making matters worse
The noticeable lull in tourist arrivals owing to the pandemic situation, especially to Fort Kochi, hitherto the hub for New Year celebrations in the district, has been further dampened by the slow progress of work undertaken by Cochin Smart Mission Limited (CSML) in the heritage zone.

In a petition filed by Rishi Sehdev to challenge the construction in close proximity of Qutub Minar, a protected structure by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the court observed that “Permission could not have been granted for any construction in the prohibited zone of 100 metres abutting a protected monument.

Hyderabad: Heritage lovers and activists were up in arms against the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) as the civic body continues to delay the restoration process of the 450-year-old wall of the Katora Houz at Golconda Fort.
The old retaining boundary wall of Katora Houz, the magnificent tank of the ancient Golconda Qila (fort) here, collapsed in the heavy rains that caused floods in October. Heritage activists allege that the tardy maintenance has resulted in the collapsed wall of Katora Houz.
Worried residents of Golconda Qila have called upon the Archeological Survey India (ASI) and the state government, the activists’ groups and residents urging the ASI to renovate the tank.

Earlier, only 10,000 visitors were allowed to visit Taj Mahal in Agra due to Covid-19 pandemic. However, the Agra administration on Monday increased the number of daily vistors allowed for Taj Mahal due to the increased demand of tickets for New Year s celebrations.
