#WorldHeritageDay: Have You Visited These Historical Sites?

Rakhigarh has the distinction of being one of the largest Harappan excavation sites in the world. Excavated by Amrendra Nath of the ASI, this site in hues of brown and red is a showcase of a planned township with mud brick and burnt brick houses; proper drainage systems and designated areas of trade and residence are also in evidence. This ancient town has excavations from the medieval times made of red ware, which includes dishes-on-stand, vasse, jars, bowls, beakers, perforated jars, goblets and handis. Other antiquities include blades, terracotta and shell bangles, semi-precious stone beads, animal figurines, toy cart frames,  terracotta wheels, bone points, inscribed steatite seals and sealings.
