India reports over 3.86 lakh Covid-19 cases, 3,498 deaths in biggest single-day spike so far
India has recorded 3,86,452 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This is the biggest single-day spike the country saw since the pandemic began. The overall caseload in India has mounted to 1,87,62,976, and the nationwide toll to 2,08,330.

India has recorded 3,86,452 new cases of the novel coronavirus, the biggest single-day spike the country reported since the pandemic began. With fresh infections, the overall caseload in India has mounted to 1,87,62,976, according to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare early Friday.

US State Department spokesperson Ned Price also informed that the both leaders reaffirmed the strength of the US-India partnership in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Government has ruled out the imposition of a national lockdown to contain the spread of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic s scathing second wave while issuing fresh guidelines under the National Disaster Management Act, 2005 to bolster efforts to handle the situation,

While ruling out the possibility of imposing a national lockdown, the Government has directed the States and the Union Territories (UTs) to consider containment measures as suggested by the Union Ministry of Health recently.
The order is likely to impact cities in 10 major states reporting a majority of cases including cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat and Lucknow.
