COVID-19: Schools, colleges shut down in Pune till February 28, restrictions on public movement

Amid rising coronavirus COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra s Pune, the government has decided to shut all schools, colleges till February 28. The government has also banned the public movement between 11 PM and 6 AM.
It is learnt that Maharashtra government is planning to impose a night curfew in Yavatmal, Amravati and Nagpur districts to curb the spread of the deadly viral disease.
Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], February 21 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh reported 88 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total count of cases in the state to 8,89,298.
New Delhi–In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the ‘Kumbh Mela’ in 2021 would be held in Haridwar for a span of 28 days which includes four ‘Shahi Snans’. The Uttarakhand government has taken this decision after discussions with Hindu sages and sants.
‘Kumbh Mela 2021’ would be organised from April 1 to 28, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said. The Uttarakhand government would soon issue a notification regarding the dates of the ‘Kumbh Mela’.
In the past, the ‘Kumbh Mela’ in Haridwar has been held for a period of four months.
At the same time, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also issued the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) regarding the ‘Kumbh Mela’. The devotees visiting the Kumbh would have to follow the SOP issued by the Ministry.
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Saturday that a few states are witnessing an uptick in the number of new Covid-19 cases reported daily for the last one week. While Kerala and Maharashtra continue to report a surge in cases, a trend of rise in infections is also being observed in Punjab, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. As per the rolling seven-day average data shared by the ministry, 259 new cases were recorded in Chhattisgarh in the last 24 hours, marking a rise of 30 in a week. Similarly, Madhya Pradesh also witnessed a spike and reported 297 new cases in the last 24 hours. The state had reported 194 cases a week ago on February 14.

The lockdown, which is slated to begin from tomorrow night, will go on till March 1, 2021.

Maharashtra government on Sunday announced a one-week lockdown in the state s Amravati district from Monday, 22 February owing to the rising coronavirus cases.
The lockdown, which is slated to begin from tomorrow night, will go on till March 1, 2021.
The government said only essential services will be allowed to function during the strict seven-day lockdown. One-week complete lockdown to remain in force in Amravati district excluding Achalpur city, beginning 8 pm tomorrow, said Cabinet Minister Yashomati Thakur.
