COVID-19: Centre appoints 2 high-level medical teams to Maharashtra, Kerala ANI | Updated: Feb 02, 2021 12:01 IST
New Delhi [India], February 2 (ANI): The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has decided to depute two high-level multi-disciplinary teams to Kerala and Maharashtra to collaborate with the State health authorities in instituting public health measures for COVID-19 management.
According to an official release, Kerala and Maharashtra continue to report a large number of cases when almost all states/Union Territories are showing a declining trend in the number of cases and deaths due to COVID-19.
Currently, the two states alone contribute to almost 70 per cent of active COVID-19 cases in the country.

YAVATMAL (MAHARASHTRA): Twelve children under five years of age were admitted to a hospital after they were administered sanitizer drops instead of polio vaccine in Maharashtra s Yavatmal on Monday, informed Yavatmal council chief executive officer Shrikrishna Panchal.
The official stated that the children are now doing fine and three officials including a health worker, doctor, and ASHA worker will be suspended in connection with the incident. Twelve children, under five years of age, were given hand sanitiser drops instead of polio vaccine in Yavatmal. They were admitted to the hospital and are doing fine now. A health worker, doctor, and an ASHA worker will be suspended. An investigation is underway, Shrikrishna Panchal told ANI on Monday.

New Delhi: India on Tuesday (February 2) logged a total of 8,635 fresh COVID-19 cases, the lowest single-day spike in coronavirus infections in the last eight months. To put it in perspective, India had registered its highest single-day spike of 95,735 cases on September 10, 2020.
Further, with 94 new fatalities being reported over the last 24 hours, the daily deaths have also fallen below 100 after almost nine months.
Along with successfully managing to bring down the daily increase in COVID-19 cases, India has been aggressively vaccinating its healthcare and frontline workers against coronavirus since January 16. As of February 2, over 39.5 lakh beneficiaries have been vaccinated against the disease, as per the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
