India s COVID-19 tally crosses 1.04 crore, over one crore people recovered ANI | Updated: Jan 08, 2021 23:07 IST New Delhi [India], January 8 (ANI): India has reported a total of 1,04,13,417 COVID-19 cases, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Friday. These include 20,539 people who have recovered from the deadly infection and 234 people who succumbed in the last 24 hours. While 1,00,37,398 people have recovered from the novel coronavirus so far, 1,50,570 persons have lost their lives to the virus in the country. There are 2,25,449 active coronavirus cases in India, as per the Union Health Ministry. Kerala, the worst affected state in the country, has reported 64,639 active cases.

82 people detected with new UK Covid-19 mutant strain in India

Photo: BCCL Mumbai: The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday announced that a total of 82 persons have been found with the new mutant variant of SARS- CoV-2 virus so far. Those detected with the more transmissible UK coronavirus mutant strain have been kept in isolation in health facilities by respective state governments and their close contacts have also been placed under quarantine. “A comprehensive contact-tracing exercise has been initiated for their co-travellers, family members and others and genome sequencing on other specimens is going on,” the Ministry added. As per the report by the Central government, over 4,800 people have been traced who travelled between India and the UK after the cases of infection by new variant came to light.

6 new COVID-19 cases, 7 recoveries reported from Nagaland

ANI | Updated: Jan 07, 2021 16:51 IST Kohima (Nagaland) [India], January 7 (ANI): Nagaland reported six new COVID-19 cases and seven recoveries in the last 24 hours, state health minister S Pangnyu Phom informed on Thursday. Out of the new cases, three were reported from Dimapur, two from Kohima and one from Peren. The total number of positive cases in the state now stands at 11,960, including 129 active cases and 11,610 recoveries. Meanwhile, India reported 20,346 new Covid-19 cases, 19,587 recoveries, and 222 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 1,03,95,278 on Thursday, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed. There are 2,28,083 active coronavirus cases in India, as per the Union Health Ministry. (ANI)

COVID-19 vaccination dry run at 263 places across Karnataka on Jan 8 ANI | Updated: Jan 07, 2021 17:56 IST Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], January 7 (ANI): Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Thursday informed that the COVID-19 vaccination dry run will be conducted at 263 places across the state on January 8. Speaking to the media after the video conferencing with Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Sudhakar said vaccination drive should be people s movement, once we get the vaccine. The minister said a detailed discussion was carried out with the Union Government regarding the preparation and distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. We are conducting vaccination dry run at 263 places on January 8. Earlier it was planned at 3 locations in each district, but we have prepared to conduct at 7 locations in each district.
