The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has allotted 6,000 square metres of land in Kharghar to build a Haj House for pilgrims travelling from the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport.
CIDCO said on Friday it received a letter from the Additional Secretary, Union Ministry of Minority Affairs seeking allotment of five acres of land near the airport to set up a Haj House and a seasonal office for the Haj Committee. In October 2016, management of the Haj pilgrimage was transferred to the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

GUWAHATI: The cost of Haj (pilgrimage to Mecca) from Assam and the other north-eastern States will be the highest in the country from 2021.
According to the recent circular issued by the Haj Committee of India,the approximate cost of Haj from Guwahati (as the embarkation point) will be Rs 3,99,273.40. Before the Centre lifted the Haj subsidy, the pilgrimage cost was between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 2.10 lakh.

Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Thursday said that the last date for submission of application forms for Haj 2021 has been extended. Embarkation Points-wise estimated cost per Haj pilgrim has also been reduced.
Addressing a press conference after chairing a meeting of Haj Committee of India at Haj House, Mumbai, Naqvi said that people can now submit application forms by January 10, 2021.
Naqvi said that December 10, 2020, was supposed to be the last date for submission of application forms and now it has been extended. More than 40,000 applications have been received for Haj 2021 till now, including more than 500 applications under women without “Mehram” category.
