Stocks of poultry companies Venky s (India) and Simran Farms fell up to 5% in early trade today after reports of bird flu emerged from four states-Kerala, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. Share of Simran Farms opened 4.95% lower at Rs 55.7 and was stuck in lower circuit of 5% in afternoon session. The share saw only sellers and no buyers. The stock has lost 19.62% in the last 5 days.
West Bengal poultry farms on alert over bird flu outbreak in some other states
The Centre said the Avian influenza outbreak, has been reported at 12 epicentres in four states Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal.

KOLKATA: An organisation of poultry farm owners in West Bengal has asked its members to be on alert in the wake of a bird flu outbreak in various parts of the country and take preventive measures to avoid the spread of the infection, an official said on Thursday.
The alert was sounded as a precautionary measure amid reports of the bird flu in some states, though not a single case of Avian influenza has been detected here so far, West Bengal Poultry Federation general secretary Madan Mohan Maity.

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], January 7 (ANI): Amid the scare of bird flu in the country, six crows have died in Karnataka s Dakshina Kannada district and their samples have been sent for testing.
State Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar said the government has taken all safety measures and there is no need to panic. Six crows died in Dakshina Kannada district, samples sent for testing. Precautionary measures have been taken in border districts to prevent bird flu, Sudhakar said.
The minister asserted: We should not spread unnecessary panic as lakhs of students are attending schools. The government has taken all safety measures.
Amid the outbreak of bird flu, the Central government on Wednesday assured that no infection has yet been reported in humans and that there is no direct evidence that the avian influenza virus transmits to humans via consumption of contaminated .
