Mobile internet services have been suspended in three Haryana districts of Sonipat, Jhajjar and Palwal for 24 hours ending 5 pm Wednesday, the state government said Tuesday evening, as violent protests by farmers rocked neighbouring Delhi.
Haryana s Home Secretary Rajeev Arora said internet services were snapped to stop the spread of disinformation and rumours through various social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter for mobilisation of antisocial elements who can disturb peace, cause loss of life and damage to property.

A high-level meeting of senior officials of the Union Home Ministry is underway in Delhi. Violence in parts of Delhi-NCR during the Republic Day celebrations on Tuesday is the top agenda of this meeting.
The meeting was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and senior Delhi Police officials.

He said the order covers internet services (2G/ 3G/4G/CDMA/GPRS), all SMS services (excluding banking and mobile recharge) and all dongle services etc provided on mobile networks except voice calls in territorial jurisdiction of districts Sonipat, Palwal and Jhajjar .
He asked all telecom service providers in Haryana including the Head of BSNL (Haryana jurisdiction) to ensure compliance. This order is being passed ex-parte in view of the emergent situation. Any person found guilty of violation of this order will be liable for legal action under relevant provisions, as per the order.
