A major earthquake of magnitude 6.4 on the Richter Scale struck Northeast India on Wednesday morning. While the earthquake originated in Sonitpur in Assam s Tezpur according to the National Centre of Seismology, strong tremors were felt in parts of the state, North Bengal and other parts of the Northeast.
