India recorded 3,29,942 new infections on May 11 which is the lowest in past 14 days. The death toll climbed to 2,49,992 with 3,876 fresh fatalities with 37,15,221 active cases. World Health Organization has reported that B.1.617, a triple-mutant variant discovered in India in October 2020, is massively contributing to the highly catastrophic spread and is of “global concern”.

The leader breathed his last at the age of 70, while undergoing treatment for
COVID-19.
Gandhi had recently tested positive for the virus, following which he was admitted to a hospital on Tuesday and was put on a ventilator.
In his political career, the leader was elected from the Nagar Lok Sabha for three times.
He first became an MP in 1999. In 2003-2004, he was also appointed as an MoS in the Central government. However, he was denied a ticket in the last elections.
Sahakar Bharati leader Satish Marathe, Uday Joshi, D N Thakur and others met India’s Sherpa to the G20 and former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu on Tuesday at his office in Delhi and discussed a host of issues pertaining to the cooperative sector.
The constitution of the Cooperative Development Forum (CDF) also came up during the discussion, among others.
Talking to Indian Cooperative Marathe said, “We met Sri Prabhu and discussed the issue of the establishment of the Cooperative Development Forum (CDF). We hope that in the middle of March, the inauguration of the CDF will be held. The office will be in Delhi and the forum will work to strengthen the cooperative movement of the country”, he added.
Will boost economic activity in coming years, says former Minister
The Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is the best in recent years, Rajya Sabha MP and former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu said.
At a meeting organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the temple city, Mr. Prabhu, who previously held key portfolios of Railways, Civil Aviation, Industries and Commerce, delved into the details of the Budget.
Referring to the amendment made to the Limited Liability Partnership, Mr. Prabhu said the step sought to decriminalise the system by doing away with certain draconian clauses. “The impact of the changes will be witnessed in the form of heightened economic activity in the forthcoming years”, he said.
