Coronil, a medicine that claims to boost immunity against COVID-19, developed by yoga guru Ramdev-promoted Patanjali Ayurved has run into a controversy over claims of certification.
At the launch event on February 19 where Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari were also in attendance, the Patanjali product was billed by the company as the first evidence-based medicine for COVID-19 .

New Delhi: Hours after Baba Ramdev presented a scientific research paper on evidence-based medicine Coronil for COVID-19, several Indian news outlets and other social media users shared a misleading claim on the internet stating that Patanjali s Coronil has been recognised as a medicine for COVID-19 by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

New Delhi: Yoga Guru Ramdev, the founder of Patanjali, released the first scientific research paper on the evidence-based medicine for COVID-19 - Coronil by Patanjali Ayurved. Union Health Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari were also present at the event.
Swami Ramdev, at the event, said, that people believe that research work can only be conducted in the West. Especially when it comes to Ayurveda, people look at research work with suspicion. He also said that Coronil has benefited lakhs of people during the pandemic.

Baba Ramdev on Friday launched the scientific research papers on Patanjali s coronavirus medicine Coronil. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari were also present on the occasion.
No other information was provided about the research papers though.
During the press conference, Baba Ramdev said that the work of the Modi government is seen on the ground in 6.38 thousand villages. Praising Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at the launch, he said that the distance from Haridwar to Delhi has been reduced from 6 hours to 3 hours.
