The saw participation of around 70 venture capital (VC) fund investors from United States, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and some global funds domiciled in India. These funds have a total AUM to the north of $41 billion in the Indian region and Global AUM of more than $143 billion.

NDTV anchor Ravish Kumar spreads fake news on paddy procurement

January 16, 2021 Share NDTV anchor Ravish Kumar came under a lot of criticism after spreading fake news on paddy procurement. In his program, Ravish displayed a poster shared by Public Distribution Minister Piyush Goyal on the 14th January episode of his program Prime Time with Ravish Kumar. He pointed to figures on the poster and accused the Modi Government of distorting facts.  Referring to the poster, he alleged that the Government data of procuring 534 lakh Metric Tonnes of paddy compared to 423 lakh Metric Tonnes in the previous year, thereby increasing the procurement by 26%, was false. The government called out Ravish for his fake news. In a letter to NDTV’s Editorial Director and President Sonia Singh, Alpana Pant Sharma, Additional Director General of the PIB said, “In a shocking display of poor journalism and sheer disregard of actual facts, Ravish Kumar of NDTV has resorted to incorrectly portraying paddy procurement by the government.”

Image Source: IANS News New Delhi, Jan 15 : The ninth round of talks between protesting farmer organisations and Union ministers to end the deadlock on agriculture laws are underway at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi. Meanwhile, when it was time for lunch, a langar was sent by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee for the farmer leaders. Mixed vegetables, rice, roti, tea, biscuits and moong dal ka halwa were sent by the committee. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Railway, Commerce and Food Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce Som Prakash are in discussion with representatives of 41 farmer organisations at Vigyan Bhavan here. This meeting is considered very important as eight rounds of conversation were inconclusive.
