Kolkata: In a major setback to the ruling Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal ahead of Assembly elections, five sitting Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLAs joined the BJP on Monday.
The lawmakers who switched over to the BJP include Sonali Guha, Sital Sardar, Dipendu Biswas, Rabindranath Bhattacharya and Jatu Lahiri. Besides the MLAs, TMC candidate from Habibpur, Sarala Murmu also joined the BJP.
New Delhi [India], March 6 (ANI): After former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Dinesh Trivedi joined his party, BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda on Saturday said now the "right man is in the right party" and added that he will actively participate in West Bengal Assembly elections.
Former Trinamool Congress MP and Union Minister Dinesh Trivedi on Saturday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).Trivedi was welcomed to the BJP by party chief JP Nadda in the presence of Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Dharmendra .
The TMC MLA, who represented Satgachia seat for the last four terms, had an emotional breakdown on Friday immediately after learning that she was not being given the party ticket this time.

Former Union Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Dinesh Trivedi on Saturday joined the BJP, less than a month after he announced his resignation from the Rajya Sabha on February 12.
Mr. Trivedi, who joined the party in the presence of BJP president J.P. Nadda at the headquarters here, said this was the “golden moment that I was waiting for”.
Recounting his experience in the TMC, without naming the party, he said “there, the other party, one family is served”, but in the BJP, he added, the public was served.
