Following the bitter outcry of the people of Sierra Leone on social media and unpleasant mainstream media condemnation of their unprofessional and unprogressive behavior, organizers of the SLPP Union of Lecturers have dissolved their organization.
Their leader, the shameless Professor Samuel Edmond Nonie , has made a public apology , as directed by the University of Sierra Leone, which was embarrassed by the behavior of its lecturers .
I write to make a public statement on the unfortunate misunderstanding caused by the actions of a group of colleagues and myself, through our organizing under the name of “the SLPP Union of Lecturers”.
A meeting was held on the week of the 1st of February 2021, under the auspices of sharing views between Sierra Leone People’s Party members who are university lecturers.
Under the current PAOPA leadership, a few of whom are purported to have earned peace and conflict resolution degrees, including the chief minster along with the president, the seeds of disunity, divisions, discrimination, tribalism, and a host of other conflicts contributing factors, continue to flourish in our nation like never before. Just when you think we have hit rock bottom in terms of destructive action, a new lower level suddenly emerges. The thought of civil servants, in this case highly educated lecturers, charged with the civic responsibility to impact knowledge to the next generation of leaders, openly coming out to sow the seeds of division in our already abysmal educational institutions, should make any patriotic citizen scream in dismay.

If social media is anything to go by, the SLPP is well and truly wallowing in a sea of corruption allegations. Considering that the fight against corruption was, and has been President Bio’s prime policy, the ironies and implications cannot be clearer.
Central to the recent allegations is his wife, the First Lady H.E Fatima Bio who had hitherto, personified the adage “behind every successful man is a woman”. But recent events seem to conjure the images of Samson and Delilah, Adam and Eve, and most recently Mugabe and “Gucci Grace”. But that is for another day.
