Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], April 9 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday took his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Medical College in Raipur.
Taking to Twitter, after his vaccination shot, Baghel wrote, Vaccinated. In the war against COVID-19, I stand with every effort that has been made.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the country recorded 1,31,968 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. With this fresh surge, the total number of infections has reached 1,30,60,542.
Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan also informed that 0.46 per cent of active COVID-19 patients are on ventilators and 2.31 per cent are in ICU.

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Thursday (8 April) said that there is no shortage of the Covid-19 vaccines in the country and that the government has more than 43 million doses in stock or in the pipeline, reports
Hindustan Times.
Dr Vardhan took to twitter to share a chart which showed that while India has already administered 91 million doses, it still has 24 million doses in stocks and another 19 million doses are in the pipeline.
The Health Minister, in the tweet, called for an end to fear-mongering over the vaccine supplies. Where does question of shortages arise? Weâre continuously monitoring and enhancing supply, he said.
Covid-19 India Update
In a yet another record-breaking spike, India on Friday reported 1, 31, 968 new Covid-19 cases and 780 deaths in the last 24 hours. With this, the total tally of India’s coronavirus cases has reached 1,30,60,542 and the death toll has reached 1,67,642. As the total number of active cases inches 9.8 L mark, India has successfully managed to inoculate 9,43,34,262 persons so far.
Amid the nationwide vaccination drive, several states, which are witnessing a high caseload, have complained of vaccine shortage. States like Maharashtra, Delhi, Odisha and Haryana have apprised the centre of possible vaccine shortage. In addition, Andhra Pradesh has only 3.5 lakh vaccines in stock while Telangana is vaccinating 60,000 to 70,000 people instead of 1 lakh.
0.46 pc COVID-19 patients on ventilators, 2.31 pc in ICU: Harsh Vardhan
NEW DELHI : Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Friday informed that 0.46 per cent of active COVID-19 patients are on ventilators and 2.31 per cent are in ICU.
“Right now 0.46 per cent of the active critical patients are on ventilators, 2.31 per cent are in the ICU, and 4.51 per cent are on oxygen-supported beds,” Harsh Vardhan said while speaking at the 24th meeting of the high-level Group of Ministers (GoM) on COVID-19.
“Our fatality rate continues to come down. Right now it is at 1.28 per cent,” the Union Health Minister added.
The ministers in the meeting are discussing the current national and international scenario of coronavirus pandemic and strategies that are to be adopted for availability and distribution of vaccines in the coming days.

Over 6.45 cr COVID-19 doses exported to 84 countries, says Union Health Minister ANI | Updated: Apr 09, 2021 13:45 IST
New Delhi [India], April 9 (ANI): Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Friday informed that the country has, so far, exported 6.45 crores COVID-19 vaccine doses to as many as 84 countries.
Out of these doses, 1.05 crores have been given as grants to 44 countries, while 3.58 crores jabs to 25 countries have been given under commercial contracts and 1.82 crores to 39 countries through World Health Organisation (WHO) s COVAX facility.
