Thane (Maharashtra) [India], January 8 (ANI): Ahead of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in the country, Maharashtra Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday asserted that the central government should bear the entire cost of vaccination. The Central government takes care of all state governments. They should bear the expenses for COVID-19 vaccine; this is the suitable expectation of the people, Shiv Sena leader Shinde told media persons while speaking about the ongoing COVID-19 vaccine dry run here. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has also conveyed the same and urged the Centre to provide free vaccination, he added.

Although the centre has informed states that it will take care of the procurement of vaccines, the state governments are not sure as to what expense formula would be adopted for the mass vaccination drive.
Nearly a week has passed since India’s central drugs regulator granted restricted approval to vaccines against Covid-19, however, the state governments are still awaiting clarity on the financial burden of the vaccines on their exchequer.

The Health Minister, while addressing a press conference, said, COVID-19 vaccines Covishield and Covaxin are on the verge of being available in the country. Our efforts are to ensure seamless last mile delivery of the vaccine.

New Delhi [India] January 7 (ANI): Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Thursday interacted with the Ministers and Principal Secretaries/Additional Chief Secretaries of the States/UTs to review the preparedness for the nationwide mock drill on the COVID-19 vaccination scheduled for Friday.
The second nationwide mock drill on the COVID-19 vaccination will be held at three-session sites of 736 districts across 33 States/UTs.
The objective of the mock drill on vaccination is to simulate the actual vaccine administration event, adding that the entire planning of the vaccination drive including beneficiary registration, microplanning and vaccination at the planned session site, will be tested under the leadership of District Collector/District Magistrate.
