Centre has informed all the eight Union Territories that the next three weeks were crucial. The UT administrations including the Delhi Government “were advised to plan in advance for three weeks.”
Delhi raised the issue of shortage of beds at a meeting held by the Union Secretaries of Home and Health to review the status of COVID-19 management in all the eight Union Territories on Tuesday.

Next three weeks crucial to contain COVID-19: Union Health Minister
NEW DELHI : Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Tuesday said the next three weeks are crucial with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country.
“Centre working closely with States and UTs on public health measures to contain COVID-19. Next three weeks crucial! At a meeting held today, UTs advised augmenting hospital infrastructure, ramping up testing, creating containment zones and strictly enforcing COVID appropriate behaviour,” tweeted Dr Harsh Vardhan.
Earlier on Tuesday, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan along with Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla chaired a high-level meeting to review and discuss the COVID status, the management and response strategy.

The list looks very different from a month ago, when the states with the highest vaccine wastage were Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Jammu and Kashmir.
At the time, vaccine wastage in Telangana was as high as 17.6% higher than Tamil Nadu right now.
Kerala, West Bengal and six other states have no vaccine wastage whatsoever
Eight states were also on the opposite side of the scales. Kerala, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Goa, Daman and Diu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands as well as Lakshadweep had ‘zero wastage’.

When there’s a vaccine shortage, it goes without saying that responsible use is key to ensuring that not a drop goes wasted. And the zero vaccine wastage rates in states like Kerala and West Bengal show that the task is not impossible.
