Four high schools in the William S. Hart Union High School District have been named 2021 California Distinguished Schools by California State Superintendent Tony Thurmond including Academy of the Canyons, Golden Valley, Hart and West Ranch.
“These additional high schools join the ranks of all 2021 California Distinguished Schools who are being recognized for this distinction because of their exceptional record to provide for all students and their commitment to data-driven efforts that prepare students for college and career,” Thurmond said. “Our thanks go to the entire communities surrounding these schools, including the teachers, administrators, and classified employees as well as the students and their families who, through teamwork, all accomplished this impressive achievement together.”
William S. Hart School District To Honor School Lunch Heroes
The William S. Hart Union High School District announced that the district would be celebrating School Lunch Heroes next Wednesday.
Between preparing healthy food, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, William S. Hart Union High School District nutrition professionals have a lot on their plate.
To celebrate their hard work and commitment, the Hart District Governing Board is set to recognize food service staff for their courageous efforts providing over 1,000,000 healthy free meals to students and youth under the age of 18 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gov. Doug Ducey and the Arizona Department of Health Services rescinded executive orders requiring masks in K-12 schools on April 19.Â
âNearly 2 million Arizonans are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with many teachers and school faculty now full vaccinated after being some of the first in line for vaccine prioritization,â Ducey said in his announcement. Â
âTeachers, families and students have acted responsibly to mitigate the spread of the virus and protect one another, and our school leaders are ready to decide if masks should be required on their campuses. We will continue to work with public health professionals and Arizonaâs schools as more students return to the classroom and our state moves forward.â
