New Delhi, April 14 : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exams for Class 10 have been cancelled and the exams for Class 12 postponed in view of the exponential spike in Covid-19 cases across the country, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank announced on Wednesday.
The decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here amid demand from students, teachers, parents and other stakeholders to cancel it.
The CBSE Board exams were scheduled to be held from May 4 to June 7 and the results were to be announced by July 15.

New Delhi, April 14 : Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday again demanded the cancellation of the CBSE exams due to Covid resurgence. My appeal to the government again is to cancel the CBSE exams, Priyanka wrote in Hindi on Facebook.
The demand comes ahead of the Prime Minister s meeting with the education ministers of the states.

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Wednesday took to Twitter announcing that Class 10 CBSE exams had been cancelled, while the Class 12 exams were being postponed. Over the last few weeks, as COVID-19 cases rose steadily and parts of the country went back under lockdown, Opposition leaders, academicians and students alike had called for a postponement of board exams. The announcement comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with the Education Minister and other top officials.
No date has officially been announced for the rescheduled Class 12 examinations, and the situation will depend wholly on how the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic plays out. However, going by Pokhriyal s tweets, the exams are certainly not happening before mid-June. Earlier, the exams had been scheduled to take place from May 4 to June 14.
