UNION (Union) – A township man charged with the shooting death of his girlfriend is in police custody after turning himself in.
Union police responded early Sunday to a home on the 2100 block of Melrose Parkway near the corner of Hillcrest Terrace North where they found Taylor unresponsive, after suffering serious injuries, according to Union County Assistant Prosecutor Armando Suarez, who is handling the case.
Taylor was rushed to University Hospital in Newark, where she was pronounced dead shortly before 8 a.m., authorities said.
Webber was identified as a suspect following an investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force and assisted by members of the Union Police Department, Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and New Jersey State Police.

An Essex County man was arrested after investigators say he caused a fatal crash on the Garden State Parkway on Monday and then offered a good Samaritan a reward to take him away from the scene.
Ronaldo Godwin, 43, of Newark, was charged with second-degree death by auto and second-degree witness tampering after the crash that killed 46-year-old Christopher Meikle of East Orange, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 2:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes near mile marker 136 in Clark, according to Union County Assistant Prosecutor Armando Suarez and New Jersey State Police.

A 43-year-old Newark man has been charged with causing a deadly crash earlier this week on the Garden State Parkway then trying to cover up his role in it, authorities said.
Ronaldo Godwin was heading southbound behind the wheel of a Range Rover when he struck a Lexus SUV driven by Christopher Meikle, of East Orange, at a high rate of speed around 2:45 a.m. Feb. 15, members of the Union County Prosecutors Office said.
Responding New Jersey State troopers found 46-year-old Meikle s SUV engulfed in flames near the highway s center median shortly before 2:45 a.m. near mile marker 136 in Clark, said Union County Assistant Prosecutor Armando Suarez, who is prosecuting the case.
